Hennie Muller

I am Hennie Muller. I was Heather’s first husband. It took many years for me to be able to forgive myself for what I had done to my family. At one point, more than 10 years after the divorce, a psychologist suggested that I should write Heather a letter, effectively a letter of apology. I poured my heart into the letter and sent it off via e-mail. I couldn’t really say that I felt any better, until Heather’s response arrived. It contained so many levels and such depth of understanding of what she had gone through and why she could forgive me, that it reduced me to tears for many hours thereafter. My healing began that day.
